At the time RMS Titanic was the largest passenger steamship in the world, constructed in Belfast, Ireland and owned by the White Star Line. Sailing on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City on April 10, 1912 she carried 2,223 passengers and crew members on board. On the 15th April 1912 Titanic struck an iceberg and sank resulting in the deaths of 1,517 people in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. This four hour long fascinating series takes the viewer deeper into the Legend of the Titanic. There are undiscovered interviews with survivors, artefacts and memorabilia from the ship and footage that has never been available before. The sinking of Titanic represented the end of an era in sea travel yet the controversy of why so many lives were lost is still being scrutinised and argued to this day. This captivating series looks into some of the issues still being kept alive by experts and enthusiasts. The sinking of Titanic on her maiden voyage, the high loss of life, the legends about the sinking, the resulting changes in maritime law and the discovery of the wreck have all contributed to the enduring interest in Titanic. Episodes Included: TITANIC REMEMBERED THE STORY OF CAPTAIN SMITH AND THE TITANIC ECHOES OF THE TITANIC END OF AN ERA

I thought, to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the most famous disaster and tragedy ever, the 100 year anniversay special DVD collection would be something recent, something new, something worth waiting for? but i started watching it last night and i was horrified to find that it was DVD's i already purchased 20 years ago? what an absolute insult to the 1500+ people that we were to be remembering? what a con, taking money off people just so we can watch people attend the 80th memorial of the disaster. i stopped watching an turned it off after 30 minutes. after all i already had the DVD's and watched them on several occasions from 1992 onwards. Why bother bringing them out at all, you may as well not even bothered.

As a documentary maker of 40 years experience, this would have to be the worst documentary I have seen in recent years. The production values are terrible and I'm angry that I wasted my money on such an unappealing presentation. Looks as though it was transferred directly from a VHS copy, complete with 'drop out bars' and it drones on and on and on. However, the saving grace is that at least the cover slick is attractive. It's a shame that they have to drag out such an old program (4x3 ratio) to make money in the 100th Anniversary year of the ship's sinking. I was really hoping for better things when I ordered it!

To add insult, it was packed in a plastic box that would usually carry 8 DVDs, so we have 2 DVDs sitting in a huge box. Not what I would call economical and if you are short on storage, well, it takes up too much shelf space. It will certainly be going out into a cardboard box in the garage never to be seen again. Stick to the 1953 movie of 'Titanic' - one of the best dramas about the ill-fated ship ever made. I guess 'A Night to Remember' would come in second for me.

I don't normally feel compelled to write reviews on products which I have bought.
However to say that this purchase is a con doesn't quite cover it.

This presentation is old, boring and repetitive.

I agree with the previous reviews, whatever you do, do not waste any money on this piece
of poorly produced, poorly designed and lazily thought out junk.

For ANYONE to issue this in line for the 100th Anniversary of this disaster is a shame.

As a relly Titanic fan I found the film very interesting, because of different elements I did not knew. About Captain Smith, surviewers and about the hotel equipped with the interior of Titanics sistership.
It surprised me, that the film was more than 20 years old. Made in 1992. But I liked the material and many details new to me.

A collection of very, very old interviews. It's fair enough as the survivors would not be alive today but the links between and the voice over etc are clearly very old too. It hasn't been presented in a new way. It's a bit like watching a bad documentary from the 1970's.

You only have to see the misspelling of "Passengers" as " Passangers" on the cover as a sure indication of how little REAL effort has gone into this offering. Don't waste your money, there is plenty of good Titanic stuff around.
