Five (sometimes more) freshly-scrubbed young pilots using vehicles-combining-into-a-giant-robot technology team up to fight evil in the solar system. Been there, done that, bought the toys back in the 1980s or 1990s, right? WRONG! Because this stop-motion puppet show is made by the same people who bring us "Robot Chicken," these are not squeaky-clean teens, but a bunch of foul-mouthed misfits with faulty personalities in charge of a highly destructive weapons system. Hilarity ensues, and the Go-Team-Robot genre of action adventure gets a thorough and long-overdue comic drubbing.

About a century into the future, humans have terraformed and colonised the entire solar system, right out to the farthest large planetoids in the Oort cloud. The Martians (as in, humans that live on Mars) are an aggressive bunch of jerks out for conquest. Protecting Saturn's moon of Titan (and to a lesser extent, other parts of the solar system) is Titan Force Five, a quintet of young hot-shots who pilot starfighters that merge to become the powerful giant robot known as Titan Maximum. Palmer is the leader of the team. He's an egomaniac par excellence, an arrogant braggart. Gibbs is the tactician and weapons expert of the group and a snarky, embittered jerk. Sasha is a sexy, spoilt, promiscuous it-girl, wannabe pop diva (even though her albums are all terrible), and hot-tempered mistress of the lethal giant robot punch. Jodi is the brilliant but uptight girl-next-door blonde navigator with beauty, brains, and lethal hand-to-hand combat training. Lastly, Spud is the chubby comic relief and heart and soul of the group. Once the Red Planet Menace is defeated, defence cutbacks on Titan force the decommissioning of Titan Maximum and the early retirement of Titan Force Five.

Two years pass.

A parody of those 90's Super Robot shows (like VR Troopers or Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad...what's that other one?) where a gang would morph into a giant multi-part piece of merchandise and smash some monsters over a miniature city.

Titan Maximum takes all that and does it in alarmingly fluid stop-motion, with some swear words tacked on.

The unit, Titan Force Five, is made up of clashing personalities: Jocular loudmouth and his geeky young brother. The nice polite girl and her polar opposite; the hot, promiscuous, bitchy one. Also a mute monkey.
No time is too inappropriate to engage in another in-fight of mockery and oneupmanship, be it mid-battle or a meeting with management they're struggling to convince of their usefulness. A tall order when they sometimes *GASP* fail at saving the day.

It's a plus that the show depends on character interaction as its what really carries the show at this early stage since way too many of the laughs are based purely around the fact cute characters use foul language, something South Park's beaten into the ground over 13 years. If you're still into that, bonus!

I love Titan Maximum! Especially Sasha. Have seen every episode and each one has me cracking up. Need to get the dvd so I can show my friends what they're missing.
