A varied collection of sounds, differing from Tired Irie's previous 7" releases, whilst maintaining their distinctive math-rock tendencies, this debut EP is like a breath of fresh air in the realms of Indie rock. While bands like Foals have been making a name for themselves with crisp dynamics and interesting arrangements, Tired Irie have always been in the background. Not anymore. Tired Irie are what Foals would like to be, poignent and uplifting whilst willing to break the mould. Math-rock has always been a genre accidentally parodying itself, with the best doing it very well and the worst algebraically failing to add up. Tired Irie strike the balance and this EP is pure evidence that there is a future for those musical mathematicians struggling to make themselves heard, providing they are willing enough to scratch down their sums with multicoloured biro's.
Stand out track: I'm Keller: sheer pulsating genius.
