Book Description

24 Sep 2007

Read about the world’s most famous travelling reporter in his native language, French, as Tintin discovers that his friend Chang, whom he believed to have died, might actually be alive and in desperate need of help.

Tintin’s friend Chang has been killed in a terrible plane crash and Tintin is distraught. But after a strange dream, Tintin becomes convinced Chang is alive. Together with Captain Haddock, he sets out on an impossible mission, an adventure deep into the mountains, through blizzards and caves of ice. They must find Chang at all costs!

Join the most iconic character in comics as he embarks on an extraordinary adventure spanning historical and political events, and thrilling mysteries. Still selling over 100,000 copies every year in the UK and having been adapted for the silver screen by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson in 2011.

The Adventures of Tintin continue to charm more than 80 years after they first found their way into publication. Since then an estimated 230 million copies have been sold, proving that comic books have the same power to entertain children and adults in the 21st century as they did in the early 20th.

About the Author

Hergé  (Georges Remi) was born in Brussels in 1907. Over the course of 54 years he completed 23 albums of The Adventures of Tintin series, which is now considered to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, comics series of all time. With translations published in over 80 languages, more than 230 million copies sold worldwide and a Hollywood movie to its name, Tintin dominates the Comics and Graphic Novels chart even today. Sadly, Hergé died in 1983, leaving his 24th album, Tintin and Alph-Art, unfinished, but his hero continues to be one of the most iconic characters in both adult and children’s fiction.

4.0 out of 5 stars Caution 11 Oct 2010

You should be aware that the book is half the size of the Tin Tin books we are used to in the UK and so the pictures are rather small.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tintin au Tibet 4 Aug 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I had already read the book but wanted to have a second read. It is always nice to be able to put my hands on French BD. The only thing I didn't like is that it was the small format, I prefer the original format.
Old fashioned, but still a good read, especially for people starting to learn French.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favourites Tintin 13 Feb 2014
By Frenchie TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase

Tintin and Snowy in the Tibet have always been favourite of mine. But I particularly like this one, because in it, Tintin is going on the search of his friend Chang, believed to have died in a plane crash. This is a softer side of Tintin, who is usually a brawler, in my opinion. Tintin refuses to believe Chang is dead. With Captain Haddock, and is faithful Snowy, they will brave the subzero temperatures of Tibet, face a Snow Monster and have many other freeing adventures, just to prove that Chang is not dead.
