These two EP's put together by Crai is great for the Catatonia fan, but if your not, then you may feel that it sounds a bit 'tinny' and a bit 'raw' but if you don't mind listing to things being sung in welsh by Cerys Mathews, and you don't mind the chunky guitar of Mark Roberts then this is not a bad choice. Never the less, Tracks like Dimbran and Fall Beside Her can be enjoyed by any indie or Rock fan, other tracks like Sweet Catatonia, and the Welsh mix of Gyda Gwen are more to a certin taste.

This is the original Catatonia line up: Cerys Mathews-Vocals Mark Roberts-Guitar Paul Jones-Bass Dafydd Ieuan-Drums Clancy Pegg-Keyboard. Dafydd left the band in late '96 and joined Super Furry Animals, and was replaced by Aled Richards. Clancy left in 1996 as well, and Owen Powell joined and became the guitarist alongside Mark.

This is an excelent buy if you are a big Catatonia fan, like myself, that is if you don't already have it, but if your not, I suggest listening to the two A sides; For Tinkerbell and Hooked.

I am a big Catatonia fan, so it will be very difficult for me to write an objective review of this great cd. First of all, Tinkerbell sounds very good on their first album, Way Beyond Blue. But this a rather old and unprofessional version. The same counts for Sweet Catatonia. Dimbran is my favourite: it's Welsh and Cerys' 'Dimmbrraaan' sounds more than gorgeous. New Mercurial Heights and its Welsh counterpart Gyda Gwen are thoroughly nice songs. Hooked and Fall Beside Her are great indie songs in the style of This Boy Can't Swim or Painful and Whale. The last track is in Welsh too, rather bittersweet, but ruined by someone speaking wrong French (I think it is) into it. But come to think of it, this is what makes this track so outstanding, and leaving it away would make the song incomplete.

I think that the best track on this cd is, track No. 5 and, you do not need to understand Welsh to enjoy it, but it is a lovely language to hear songs sung in, it makes for a lovely sound. I think that this cd is worth buying if you are a Catatonia fan - which, I am. If you liked, "International Velvet" then, you will certainly like, "For Tinkerbell/Hooked".
