A great trip back to my childhood, and dare I say it, it works even better as an App than as a book.

Great premise, but a few bugs doesn't allow progress (kindle version) ... so waste of money unfortunately.

I loved playing Fighting Fantasy game books as a kid and was delighted that they have been converted to kindle. The gameplay is excellent and the graphics are great too. I have all previous Tin Man releases of the FF game books and can't wait for the next release. City of Thieves, Deathtrap Dungeon & The Legend of Zagor next please Tin Man!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Whether an Avenue for Reluctant Readers or Nostalgic Fans, Tin Man Games Wins! 20 May 2014

Back in the late 70s, early 80s, I had the pick-a-path book craze. The FIGHTING FANTASY series really upped the genre to a whole new level, introducing me (like so many others) to Role Playing Games hand-in-hand with D&D table top books and the Commodore 64/128. Tin Man Games has done an outstanding job in a faithful, extremely polished port of the FF:Starship Travelers set!

Network Permissions - A More Games link to the Amazon App Store

External Memory Acess - The file is approximately 38mbs, but can be manually moved to a SD card. The game also auto-saves progress upon a clean exit.

Wake Lock - It is not often that this particular permission is actually needed, but I would say it is for FF:ST since reading is a major aspect (don't want your device suddenly going to sleep in the middle of a paragraph).

I had recently also bought Sorcery! but found a couple points that slightly disappointed me, one being the narrative text length- very much on the "blurb" side. This book-game hybrid, however, satisfies in full in that aspect and every other. Easy book-like interface, sensible sub-menu layout, good font size, in-depth text tutorial, outstanding music, couple difficulty options with an independent bookmark system (who didn't use the "finger bookmark" when reading the originals? lol). There are even crunchy extras, like a couple interesting text biopics and an Awards section that encourages "replay" and exploration of different paths.

This game is on the expensive side. Yet as a tried-and-true method of getting "reluctant readers" involved with books, the FIGHTING FANTASY series has been historically proven as a gold mine of enticing all reading levels. Tin Man Games has taken that often overlooked aspect and has done a stand up job of providing the same opportunity to a new generation. And then there are those of us who just love the nostalgic play of a format that had given (and still does) countless hours of involved enjoyment. Solid 5 stars!

Brings back a lot of old memories....countless hours I would play these games when I was a kid during the 80s and to now see these brought back to life!!! Blows me away....As soon as I saw this I knew I had to have it...going to try and find some of the originals ...I have a few but the hunt will be worth it...wish they were a little cheaper than 5.99 though

This is a wonderful rendition of the original Fighting Fantasy gamebook. I recommend this to any fans of the original series who use an Android-operated system.
4.0 out of 5 stars I picked this up with Amazon coins but would've been disappointed if I had paid the full price 6 July 2014

This is a choose your own adventure style game based on a book of the same name. The original book was written in the 80s and it shows. Perfunctory illusion of choice and limited tactility from the digital dice create a very streamlined story experience. There are very few CYOA books with a Sci-Fi setting so this still remains a top pick almost by default. I picked this up with Amazon coins but would've been disappointed if I had paid the full price.
5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing 23 Jun 2014

I remember loving these types of books as a kid (though I never played the Fighting Fantasy series), and the magic is definitely still there.

Whether you're new to this style of game or an old hat, there is plenty to love here. I can't say enough about how well this game has been designed and how smoothly and sharply it plays on my kindle. If you love to read and use your imagination, this game provides a satisfying experience with lots of replay value. The price tag may seem a bit steep to some, but I promise it's totally worth it. One of the best things I've downloaded from the app store, period.
