"a perfect picture book" - The Independent "the book grabs you from the start" - Nursery World "The Tin Forest stands out as an enchanting and atmospheric book" - T.E.S. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Product Description

There was once a wide, windswept place, near nowhere and close to forgotten that was filled with all the things that no one wanted...So begins Helen Ward's poetic story. "The Tin Forest". But, deep in the forest lives an old man who tidies this rubbish and dreams of a better place. With faith, ingenuity and hard work he transforms his environment. This is a wonderful modern fable told with spare poetic text in which the storyteller's voice rings clear and true.

I love this book! 10 April 2010
Format:Paperback
This book is just beautiful, I love it! I teach Year 6 children and love using a picture book as a stimulus for writing and this book fits our topic of rainforests and conservation brilliantly. The illustrations are whimsical and inviting, the children loved to look at the pictures closely and spot new details and hidden tin creatures. The audio cd which comes with the book is brilliant too, the music which accompanies the reading really creates the mood and atmosphere reflected in the illustrations. As a read aloud book it's great for kids of all ages, obviously as a text it isn't complex enough for KS2 but it opens up a wealth of writing opportunities for the older children and they have thoroughly enjoyed it.
