2.0 out of 5 stars Too Big for a Sports Watch, 7 Oct 2009
By
The style & look was exactly what I was looking for but it just isn't a practical watch given it's target market.

Advertised as "Sport Luxury", however it is quite a chunky & heavy watch which makes it completely impractical when you are participating in most sporting activities as you have this heavy, bulky watch clanking around your wrist.

Setting the date is awkward, not good considering it does not have a perpetual calendar, but given how small the text for date is on the watch face it's not so important as it's so hard to read.

Accuracy wasn't that great, the watch lost around 10 seconds every day.

I managed to damage the strap during a game of squash, something which I would have hoped that the watch would cope with given that it's supposed to be a "Luxury Sports Watch". It would appear that it is all but impossible to find a replacement band for this watch and Timex themselves are unresponsive.

4.0 out of 5 stars Swiss'ish for under $250 - Thumbs up, 8 Feb 2009
By Brent Berman - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Timex Gents Watch Self-Winding Classic T2M516 (Watch)
After reading some dismal reviews I had to give my opinion. I have a Swiss watch that was in for repair (yet again) and I decided to buy two Timex Automatics figuring I could always keep them as backups. Well this one (T2M516) is now my everyday watch and the rest stay on the watch-winder at home.

Pros:
The watch looks great.
The black finish is classy and unique
It's a "man's" watch. Heavy, sporty and durable
Timex lifetime warranty = 5 bucks

Cons:
Runs a bit fast (2-3 mins per day). Sent in for warranty, came back with same results.
Yes date is very small (but I have a cell phone that tells me that plus weather, maps and my next appt)

If you want an Automatic, just remember this: even the best Swiss watches require costly overhauls every 3-5 years. You could buy 15 of these at a lower price in that time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Timex Has Failed at Quality Control, 29 Sep 2009
By Ronnie "Buyer" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Timex Gents Watch Self-Winding Classic T2M516 (Watch)
First let me say that I really, really wanted to like this watch. I loved the idea of having a very cool, quality automatic watch at a fraction of the price of the luxury brands; and with tried and true Timex brand, I could count on years of flawless service. Sounds logical right? Read on.

I got this watch home and liked everything about it (with the exception of the small date). It had attractive styling, visible gearing on both the face and the back of the watch, and a power meter. I wore it 24-7 for 3 days before I noticed it was gaining time. It took me three days to notice because my wife sets all the clocks in the house ahead 5 to 7 min so my reference points were inconsistent. Only when it was approximately 10 to 15 min fast did I realize there was a problem. Not wanting to deal with Timex warranty service, I returned it to the store for a complete refund.

Guessing that my flawed watch was a random malfunction, I ordered the same watch online from a reputable seller. Naturally, the first thing I did when I got it home was set it by the Official US time found online at timeDOTgov. I then wore it for 24 hours and checked the official time the next day. The watch had advanced ahead approximately 6 min in 24 hours. Needless-to-say, I returned this one for a full refund as well. I am very disappointed in Timex. If flaws are random and infrequent, getting two malfunctioning watches in a row from two different sellers is about as statistically possible as being struck by lightning - so, I am left to assume that Timex has really lost control of its quality assurance process. Perhaps that was the first department cut when the recession hit. Sadly, I must now look for a more expensive, nice, daily-wear watch.

4.0 out of 5 stars Attention Getter!, 4 May 2009
By S. Mackin - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Timex Gents Watch Self-Winding Classic T2M516 (Watch)
My watch was bought new from Timex. Not sure if that has anything to do with my experience compared to some of the others. It has worked flawlessly, kept accurate time, and draws lots of evious comments. I do agree with the other comments about the date dial. It is ridiculously miniscule. I have perfect 20/20 vision and it is very difficult to read what date the tiny arm is pointing at.

Update: Worn the watch everyday for the last 8 months. Still works perfectly. The black finish on the band and around the crown has started to wear a very little bit.

Latest Update: Still wear the watch everyday. Over a year now, still working great, accurate time. The finish hasn't worn anymore than my last update. So, I still recommend this watch!
