I was looking for an inexpensive watch for marathon training; the main feature I needed was timing of individual laps. This watch fulfills these requirements and more. It's clearly a mature product, very well thought out. The button placements are very logical and the menus intuitive - one doesn't need to keep going back to the manual. The display is nicely configurable - for example one can choose between lap times as main (larger characters) display and total time secondary, or vice-versa. Date can be set as MM-DD or DD-MM. Finally, build quality is excellent for such a low cost product - for example the lettering on the watch body is etched, not just printed on, so it won't wear off. Overall an excellent sports watch and incredible value for money.
Update: one small gripe is that it is not possible to set a "once only" alarm; you get the choice of "week days" or "week-ends" only. This is annoying when you want to be woken early one day in the week then forget to cancel the alarm for the next day!

Pretty Good, BUT ... 5 Feb. 2011

I am a repeat buyer of Timex Triiathalon Series watches. The features are great. However, on this model, the "Start/Split" button, which controls cycling through the set time zones, is obtrusively large. This allows the time zone to be changed unintentionally and without the wearer's knowledge. As mine is set for EST and CST, the undesired changed has alreaady caused me to be late for an appointment. Also, earlier models allowed each respective time zone setting to be uniquely labeled by the user - IF it still had that feature, at least you could tell when the time zones had been inadvertently changed. Otherwise, I would have rated this as 5 Stars.

Great Functionality, Nice Size, Easy to Read 2 Nov. 2012
By Andrew Ancel - Published on
I have quite a few watches including Casio g-shocks, Timex shocks as well as other Timex and Casios. Everyone's tastes are different - that being said this watch has emerged as my favorite.

Functionality is important to me. The three alarms help with meds and appointments. Also unlike almost all of the watches I have, the alarm on this watch by comparison screams when the alarms go off. I exaggerate, but you can definitely hear the alarm on this watch. The three time zones have been useful in my travels. I can't speak for its use for running, swimming, etc as it is not the reason I bought it.

It is not a big watch. I don't mind watches that are larger these days and own a few but I prefer something lighter and less bulky on my wrist. And the best part is that despite the watch not being large, the numbers on this watch are easy for these older eyes to read.

The watch has a nice look but won't impress friends, family and co-workers with shock and awe. But if you want a watch that has a lot of functionality, is easy to read and a pleasure to wear, then consider this watch...

Great watch for swimming. 25 Jan. 2012

I swim 3 days a week and finally decided that it was time I used a watch in the pool. I recommend this watch. I bought it for three reasons:

#1: I wanted a lap counter. I often swim 18 or 36 laps, and find that I sometimes forget how many laps I've done. This watch has an easy-to-use lap counter (split button) that is large and easy to press while swimming. The lap counter works very well. The two things I like most about this feature are that you can press the button under water, and that you can hear it beep under water.

#2: I wanted a chrono (stop watch) feature to time myself while I swim. It records your time (and your splits if you want to know that info) and is easy to use. The watch's features are pretty standard, but they are not easy to figure out unless you read the directions. This is not a complaint, but I found that I needed to spend about 5 minutes with the directions before I could use the watch.

#3: Price. For only $30, you get almost everything you need in a sports watch. I am extremely pleased with the value of this water-proof watch.

Note: some people have complained about the quality of the watch band. Based on the reviews, the watch band is higher quality than I thought it would be. But, I can certainly see you needing to replace the watch band if you wear the watch every day or multiple times per week. I expect the band to last about a year or two, based on regular wear. What do you expect from a $30 watch?

Very happy with this watch. No issues with the delivery, and the functionality and usability are great, didn't need to read the instructions to operate the watch.
Beware...Does not come with FLIX!!! 20 Feb. 2013

I lost a similar model that I purchased in 2009 that had the built-in FLIX feature. The model that watchzone sent did not have the FLIX feature. I called them, notified them of the error in the product description section, and happily returned it.
