5.0 out of 5 stars I got it with a warning!! 30 May 2008
Format:Audio CD
This is the only album I have evr been warned about by the person behind the counter!! Seriously - the shop assisitant said "If you're buying this because you liked 'Vivid' then you might not be pleased." I was a little worried when I got it home. I need not have been. From the virtual thrash stomp of the title track to the excellent Muzz Skillings song 'Someone Like You' (whatever happened to Muzz?) and the brilliant 'Solace of You' this album is typical of Living Colour's versatility. Superb writing and musicianship the only slight concern would be that occasionally on this CD there are moments where the inclination toward 'muso' for the sake of it might alienate some. That said, it rewards repeated listens and although 'Vivid' is more immediate (and therefore popular) I believe this to be the stronger ALBUM. Excellent band who spilt criminally early. Together again now but can't help wonder what they would have produced had they followed 'Stain.'

5.0 out of 5 stars Forgotten gem of politically charged rock. 3 Oct 2008
Format:Audio CD
Chuffing heck, this album does take me back to the early pre grunge American funk rock 1990s, absolute forgotten gem of funk/rock/metal, very experimental, with a social conscience.
Living Color were in the same mold of late 1980s early 1990s Red Hot Chili Peppers, Primus and Faith No More, but with a lyrical cutting edge.

From the versatile guitar work of Vernon Reid, switching from funk to metal in one movement to Corey Glover's superb vocal range this album just fires on all cylinders.
From the charged 'Love Rears Its Ugly Head' (the albums most famous track and first single in 1990) to the more political `Type' there is a vast assault on your senses on offer here, admission tickets are available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Time's Up...not for this band. 23 Mar 2014
Format:MP3 Download|Verified Purchase
Time's Up is a great slab of Funk Metal from the brilliant Living Colour. I bought the Download copy as I no longer own the CD version. I wish Epic would re-release it on CD as I'm old school and prefer having a physical copy. To anyone who has never heard of this band they were way ahead of their time and had a few hits in particular Love Rears It's Ugly Head. Corey Glover has an amazing voice and Vernon Reid is a great guitarist. Thankfully the band have made a comeback and are in the process of writing a new album. Let's hope it's as good as this.
