Product Description

Liam O'Connor should have died at sea in 1912.

Maddy Carter should have died on a plane in 2010.

Sal Vikram should have died in a fire in 2029.

But all three have been given a second chance - to work for an agency that no-one knows exists. Its purpose - to prevent time travel destroying history . . .

When Maddy mistakenly opens a time window where and when she shouldn't have, Liam is marooned sixty-five million years ago in the hunting ground of a deadly - and until now - undiscovered species of predator.

Can Liam make contact with Maddy and Sal before he's torn to pieces by dinosaurs - and without endangering history so much that the world is overtaken by a terrifying new reality?

About the Author

Alex Scarrow used to be a rock guitarist, then he became a graphic artist, then he decided to be a computer games designer. Finally, he grew up and became an author. He has written a number of successful thrillers and several screenplays, but it's YA fiction that has allowed him to really have fun with the ideas and concepts he was playing around with designing games.

He lives in Norwich with his son, Jacob, his wife, Frances, and two very fat rats.

More About the Author

Alex Scarrow spent the first ten years out of college in various rock bands trying to get a record deal. Then, failing miserably at that he went into the computer games business as a digital artist.

After a decade in the games business, he ended up as a senior designer working on high-concept projects for next generation consoles.

Finally he got bored of all of that and turned his hand to writing. His first manuscript, A THOUSAND SUNS was published in the UK by Orion in 2005. He now has a number of thrillers out and written the nine-book teen series TIMERIDERS which has won a number of awards, been nominated by Puffin as BEST ADVENTURE FANTASY in their recent BEST SEVENTY CHILDRENS BOOKS OF ALL TIME press release.

And coming soon, released exclusively on Amazon Kindle, is the ELLIE QUIN SERIES, which Alex describes as a chase story across a future universe that looks a bit like 'BladeRunner meets Douglas Adam's Hitch-Hikers Guide'. He has also described it as 'Bridget Jones in Space'.

Which is intriguing.

Alex Scarrow is fast building a reputation as one of the UK's most original writers.

"Alex is plugged into the zeitgeist - his themes of religious chaos, environmental catastrophe and the dangers of unchecked power are perfectly in tune with the times." - Orion Books.

Alex is represented by Veronique Baxter at David Higham Associates

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeriders Perfection 12 Jun 2011
By Parm TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have been a fan of Alex's work for some time now, and have started with his adult thrillers all of which I have enjoyed immensely.
When I heard that he was going to do a children's series I thought "I'm not a Teen I don't read YA books" and I have always stuck
With the principle that I don't Read YA books. But something made me break that rule, I suppose its his skill at writing characters!

Anyway, I read TR1 and loved it and thought, yup this is good, but is it a flash in the pan? NO TR2 has shown that this is Alex's True niche
Don't get me wrong I hope he always writes adult thrillers as well, but Timeriders is his forte, and its not really Young adult, it really is something
for adults and teens and kids to share, it really spans the age groups appealing to all and not speaking down to anyone.

The main characters are once again brilliantly written, the story line is well paced and flows beautifully. I cant wait for TR3.4 5 6 7 etc...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Second novel 1 Aug 2010
By Gareth Wilson - Falcata Times Blog TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback
Alex Scarrow is a master of the what if scenario and whilst this title is definitely aimed at the Young adult market its one that will enthuse as well as capture many an adult reader as well. It's got a great premise, the principle characters stand out and above all else Alex makes it so that the reader really cares for the characters within. This title has been a real breath of fresh air and is definitely one I'm lending to other friends who not only enjoy the What if Scenario but a great sense of story telling style. This author deserves to be noticed. I really can't wait for the third.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rip roaring ride through time 16 Oct 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the second timeriders book I have read, and just like the first, I could barely put it down. The characters have become like friends and the urge to see them safe is spellbinding.
It is not just a rerun of the first book though, we meet new characters and different situations, and the complexity of the story makes you appreciate the author and his ability to tie everything together.
I don't understand why these books are classed as young adult reading, as I am getting to be a rather old adult now, and don't know how anyone could not love them.

4.0 out of 5 stars A worthy sequel 2 Jun 2011
By Kate TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A real highlight of the first TimeRiders novel was the originality of the premise and the shock to the system that the youngsters suffered as they were wrenched out of their own time. With that inevitably missing from the sequel, Day of the Predators was always going to have to work harder. Nevertheless, Scarrow does a great job of letting us get to know Maddy, Liam and Sal that much better. And there are plenty of twists, some shocking.

Instead of support unit Bob, we have a female, Becks. Her interaction with Liam and the world around her is a treat here.

As before, Scarrow doesn't pull his punches for a young readership and he doesn't talk down. What will appeal to most, whatever age, is that this book is set in the time of the dinosaurs, some of whom may have been more intelligent than they've been given credit for. The world that Scarrow creates pulls the reader in. It's quite extraordinary. And, with time waves rippling, you never quite know what will happen next.

This is most definitely a series to be read in sequence.

5.0 out of 5 stars Becks+ Dinosaurs= A winning book 2 Dec 2012
By E Alan
Format:Paperback
I love this book, the way Alex gets into the mind of the Alpha male Dinosaur is facinating, stalking hunting his prey. Watching adapting and learning, its draws you into respecting the creatures and wanting the group to survive. Becks excels in this book. Another super read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Time Riders series improves book after book. 23 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Some great plot twists and character development, especially of Bob's AI. We start to understand much more about our heros and the capabilities of time travel. Alex Scarrow does a great job of making the main characters interesting, layered and imperfect enough that you can really relate to them. I am loving this series.

As an adult reader of these books, I'm finding them great fun. And as a bonus, they are also well edited and spell-checked. While Nazis are not really my thing, I've been hooked on dinosaurs since Jurassic Park came out, and so for me, the plot in book 2 was better than in the first Timeriders novel. I liked the exploration of how intelligence may arise (and stagnate), and the attempted government takeover was well written and believable. Good character development from book 1. Just at the end, it felt a bit rushed, and the explanation of how locking people out of the bubble returns time to its original path could do with a bit more detail - it felt as though the author wasn't quite sure what to do with Edward to get out of the final plot hole. Looking forward to starting book 3.
