What a brilliant record!

Think Bonnie Prince Billy on 'Master and Everyone' meets Nick Drake on 'Pink Moon'. Its that good

The comparisons to Nick Drake are obvious due to his precise, rythmic guitar playing style. The production is better than on Drakes material though. This is how Nick Drake could have sounded if they didnt splash high pitched strings over everything.

If you like Surfjan, Kings of Convenience, Bonnie Prince Billy, Jack Johnson, Iron & Wine, Scott Matthews etc then you will love this record

I first heard this guy on a soundtrack to a movie.
The movie was good but the soundtrack better.
Long after the memory of the movie faded the soundtrack remained.
Lingered.
The tone was mellow - melancholy songs sang behind a guitar.
Lovely lyrics, beautiful vocals led by electric/acoustic guitars - folksie.
So laid back - hitting the horizontal.
Simple yet complex - always beguiling.
Then I heard this guy again tonight and it was yesterday once more.
Listen to the songs.
Hear how they are for you.
For me they're haunting.
For me they're nostaglic.
Yearning.
Time without consequence - one mesmerising work - by the singer/songwriter - Alexi Murdoch.
Away we go...
...the movie was good - the soundtrack better - but this album is just the best.
Away you go.

In a world where there are going to be no more Nick Drake albums, Alexi Murdoch helps fill the gap. Not quite up to the work of the master but if you like Drake you'll undoubtedly like this.
