CD Description
Chinese musical concepts and elements combining with Western forms are the heart of this release which represents a bold and innovative experiment to create a unique world music form. Time To Grow (recorded in Sweden with an accomplished backroom team) features Ruhan performing songs in her native language, originally written for western pop and classical crossover singers which provides a sparkling fusion of styles. Released in digipak format with a 24 page booklet with lyrics in Chinese with English translation. The first release of 'Earth's Music' project, part of China's 12th Five Year National Economic Development Plan, which includes developing and promoting Chinese music and creative industries. The 'Earth's Music' project is part of a larger agenda whose mission is to create a series of musical productions based on Chinese music and culture elements that use modern Western music composition and advanced international production techniques. The goal is to release these productions in the worldwide market.
About the Artist
Soprano Jia Ruhan learned piano by the age of four and in the next ten years played in opera, musicals, drama and TV shows before studying singing at the Chinese Conservatory Of Music and majoring in bel-canto at the Shanghai Conservatory Of Music. Her introduction to the West took place with her role in Damon Albarn's opera Monkey: Journey To The West as the Queen Mother Of Heaven and Guan Yin and later performing on Albarn's BBC Olympic theme for the 2008 Beijing Games. Her distinctive vocal style can also be heard on Chinese composer Christopher Tin's double Grammy award winning album Calling All Dawns (Best Classical Crossover & Best Instrumental Arrangement).

Silva Screen Records LTD presents "TIME TO GROW", featuring Jia Ruhan a Soprano from China in her debut album with the sweet flowing sounds of a songbird. Each track is beautifully arranged from light opera to Broadway sounding shows. Performing two tracks in English and ten tracks in Chinese, with melodic intent on all tracks. Robert Wells (Swedish pianist) has a hand in this release, as well as our favorite engineer for mixing Bernard Lohr.
These performances are similar to Celine Dion, Josh Groban and Il Divo, if this is your cup of tea, then pour a cup and enjoy.
