I bought this because it was the most recently published guide (we went to NYC in December 2010). I was really impressed with the content of the book but most importantly we were staying with friends and many of their recommendations for places to eat, little bakeries etc. were already in the book!

I purchased this book as it was so up to date with info and because of its size. It has some good maps which fold out. I was dissapointed however that the tabs which are shown on the outside arent actually inside the book, the majority of the book is one single 'tab' section which is just called 'New York by area' which you have to look through to find the area you want as it is not broken down by tabs any further. Also it only has 3 itineries which are to do with skyscrapers, emigration and literature, I think they could have put a more general itinerary in with more common sites.

I gave this to my best friend for her birthday because she was going to NY for her holidays.
She loved it!
She made her plans based on this guide and she said she found the best little stores and restaurants and she could enjoy a lot of free stuff.
Whenever a need a guide to any city, I think Time Out will be my choice.
