Just got back from a 4 day break in Rome and had this book tucked in my jacket pocket for the whole visit. It's a nice size and handy for quick reference & maps of the main areas. We used it in conjunction with a more detailed guide.
The entries are pretty brief for a lot of the historic sites but the guide excels on food & drink places. We tried about 4 from this book and as you would expect from a 2010 guide the info and prices were spot on.
The lack of a metro/train map was a little frustrating but otherwise there were no major faults. If you don't require too much detailed information this will suit you prefectly. If you want more detail I would suggest using it in conjuction with another Rome guide.

The Timeout Shortlist series is great for working out what to do in a massive city in a short period of time. I've used them time and again for my city breaks and the Rome edition was just as expected: informative, reliable without being preachy and too knowy. And I never get lost when I use their maps, which is amazing for me because that is rarely the case with every other map I have ever used. Highly recommended.

There just seems to be so little useful information in this book. Sights are ordered by neighbourhood, so means constant flicking back and forth between chapters, no opinions or recommendations given, so still no real idea on best bits and only expensive accomodation is listed. Will be buying lonely planet next week.
