I used the Time Out guide book for Madrid recently when I went to Madrid for a long weekend with a couple of friends. None of us had been there before so we needed a good guide book and this one looked the most user friendly in the bookshop. It also has lots of photos. We found it really good for finding very atmospheric tapas bars away from the tourist traps that we might not have found. It also seemed to be very up to date on the art galleries which were amazing. This wasn't the first time otu travel guide I have bought as I normally buy either Rough guides or Time Out, but I think it is one of the better ones.

This is a great little book. It's pocket and handbag friendly, very easy to navigate and gives great tips. Fab pictures and easy reading. I'd recommend it to anyone. Don't leave home without it!

Review: Sufficient information on sites, restaurants, arts and entertainment (nightlife, bars, etc.), excursions, shopping and maps. Couple walking maps help and the level of detail is sufficient to plan your trip or take the book with you while you are walking around. The book is not hardcover, but a little to bit to fit in your average pant pocket unless you are wearing cargo pants.
Why you should trust me: This is one of six travel books I have used this year alone in Europe and the Middle East. This is the only TimOut book of the six.

Detailed maps really help when you are on the streets, but it lack some very basic information such as special packaged passes (for transportation and museums).
