I bought this guide ahead of a 9-day stay in Los Angeles in October 2011 and it served me well. In addition to providing useful guidance on places to eat and things to see (I can't vouch for the hotel guidance as we'd booked somewhere before buying the guide) it includes some useful and suitably detailed maps as well as a respectable amount of background information about the city and its history. It's also of a size that fits easily into a small bag or large pocket, always a benefit when you're trying not to look too much like a tourist while wandering around Downtown. It also proved robust enough to survive some pretty shabby treatment throughout a month and a half-long trip around the USA.
I'd previously tended to use Lonely Planet guides when travelling but having bought the equally useful
Time Out Beijing - 1st Edition (albeit at an extortionate price at Amsterdam Schipol Airport) and after my positive experiences with this guide I think my loyalties may have switched to Time Out guides.
