insiders guide 7 Feb 2005
By gjb
Format:Paperback
Time Out guides turn their attention to their home patch. This guide is well written, informative and without the American or Australian bias certain others adopt. The section on pubs and clubs is of particular note. The maps are clearly presented and easy to follow. A good companion to this guide is the Time Out diary which helps pass many a dreary day at work either planning imaginary tube journeys or selecting a pub in which to lunch. Amazon are selling this for six quid. Stop browsing and buy it.

Although I have lived in London all my life, I found this book opened my eyes to parts of the city I did not know. The book may be a bit dated and I would have loved more stories of London, that are often in the Time Out London magazines. Recommended for learning about London, but it would be impossible go into detail of every part of the city. You may have to find another book for greater detailed history.

time out knows london 27 July 2006

Time out is designed for locals, good for tourists too. Other good guides include rough guide to London (more for tourists) and tripadviser a very good resourse. Lonely planets site offers a good forum too.
