As reliable, quirky, informative and inspiring as Time Out guides always are. The restaurant reviews are spot on, I found an excellent value hotel through this guide, and it was my constant companion on a brilliant holiday. Light and pocket-sized too! I particularly liked the guide to the best stairway walks in SF.

Out of the three books I recently used to tour the city, this one had the most errors when it came to restaurant listings. The writing was dry and as a guide it lacked personality.
