This book contains a lot of accurate information. But, if you walk through the city, it is difficult to find your way with it. A few smaller maps with a itinerary would be helpful.

Having recently returned from a trip to Budapest, I found the guide to be informative and comprehensive. The first section covering the history of the city was a great introduction to the history and culture of Budapest. The sights in each of the city's main area are clearly described or illustrated, and I took advantage of the guided walk around Pest, which saved a fortune from those offering sightseeing tours. The maps could be a little bigger (perhaps a pull out for future editions?), but I found the city very easy to navigate, so they were extremely useful. I was pleasantly surprised that such a compact publication could pack as much information as this guide did, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting the beautiful city.

Have used other Time Out guides e.g. Paris, which were good. Very disappointed with this guide. A constant frustration to use. In fact the worst guide book we have used in 30 years of travelling. It is difficult to find your way round the book. There are three separate indexes in the book (a content index, a venue index and a street index) but many obvious places are in none of them. There is almost no historical explanation in relation to specific sights. Other information is clearly wrong e.g. one museum highlighted in the guide as "free admission" is not and the price list displayed on the door looks like it has been there for years; the conclusion one draws is that the authors may not have recently visited some of the sites they describe. If you want a guide to trendy clothes shops or night clubs then this guide may be excellent but for a sight-seeing trip it was poor.
