In particular, 'I'll Be Waiting' showcases the singer's capacity for epic rock ballads. Kravitz's approach to recording this release smacks of perfectionism: he took on all the writing, arranging, production and the majority of performing duties himself. The result is a worthy addition to hisoeuvre that takes in all the hallmarks of a sound honed over an impressive career.

I've been a Lenny Kravitz fan for years, have all his albums and seen him live 4 or 5 times, but I hope that doesn't blind my judgement and make be believe he is some sort of god. He has a great voice and is a brilliant performer. But on occasion his lyrics can be very clunky to the verge of embarrassing, the major guitar playing is all too often performed by Craig Ross, and his recent albums have been very inconsistent. This album though is a return to form. It starts with lots of energy (Love Revolution is an excellent track) and will get you bouncing along happily. The single I'll Be Waiting slows things down and is a song that wouldn't be out of place on the Mama Said album. It's one of his best for years. In fact it's when the album does slow in tempo in the second half that this album really captures you (This Moment Is All There Is & A New Door especially) and gives it longevity. So the first half may hook you in initially but the second half is a real grower, and ultimately much richer. So this is a very good Lenny Kravitz album. The downside - Lenny appears to have found a direct door to Jesus and God so for the atheist it can get slightly grating.

Been & still a big fan of Lenny but this album is quite a disappointment! Same old same old with no flare anymore is how i describe that... old tunes, drums, back vocals, themes, rhythm, ideas, lyrics, etc etc...

This is a déja vu album from a mishmash of all the previous 7 albums which i have all... & the same style that made me a big fan now seems quite monotonous and boring... I'm sure there are more creative producers to add something new for changing times...

Tried to listen to this several times but it just doesn't grown onto you for some reason! no inspiration whatsoever! shame... & surely singing about Vietnam now & crying out for Jesus doesn't help either... I'm getting my 'Mamma Said' & 'Are you gonna go my out' back again because these represent Lenny to me, not this combination of old cheap tunes...

The usual Kravitz mix of style. Overall, I think this is a better and more varied album than Baptism. 'I'll Be Waiting' is the stand-out track and 'Dancin' Til Dawn' has an awesome, funky beat. However, I feel that few of the rock-styled songs this time have as much impact as in previous albums. Nevertheless, this is still an album to add to the collection. I think it will grow on you the more you listen to it.
