This book has been my constant companion after the sudden death of my husband. Grief clouded my mind so thoroughly that I often did not even know how I felt. By paging through this book and looking for the statement or topic that made me cry, I was able to verbalize my feelings and use the meditation to deal with the underlying issues. I have bought this book for my daughter, my husband's parents and his siblings. This book has served as my compas through the horror that is death of a spouse.

A Pocket Companion 1 Aug 1997

Format:Paperback
Among the group of currently popular smaller format books of meditations, this offering by grief consultant, lecturer and author Carol Staudacher deserves notice. Divided into three sections--Retreating, Working Through, and Resolving--A Time To Grieve encourages the reader to pick a page that speaks to one in the present moment. Using the by now familiar form of the basic "theme of the day," followed by an appropriate quotation, followed by Staudacher's own thoughts on the topic, the meditations address the often felt but seldom admitted struggles of the bereaved. But it is the author's level of understanding and lack of sentimentality that brings the greatest strength to this work intended to companion one who grieves.

This is the only book I could find that is appropriate for those of us who had a difficult relationship with the person who died. Also, this book is wonderful for people in all stages of grieving. Even years after the death, this book still touches me deeply.
