Book Description

3 Jan 2010
Time Flies Like Cow is an essay on communication and perspective disguised as an amusing novel. The often humorous prose follows the narrator on a day out, driving around completing errands. Prompted by what is observed, the narrator reflects on the nature of various concepts; from the economy to education, from quantum physics to social concerns. The author displays a unique and insightful approach which depicts how communication skills and observer perspective influence the comprehension and conceptualization of ideas.

About the Author

After spending his formative years in the best French and English schools of Montreal and then coming to disagreements with the educational system, Mr Birtz continued his development with auto-didactic studies of the works of his favorite masters Leonardo and Frank Lloyd Wright and of his not so favorite physicists Einstein and Hawking. He earned his pilot license then went on to excel at computer programming and kung fu before retiring at the ripe age of thirty-nine. Having developed on the way his personal architectural and writing styles and arriving, in the end, after long periods of hanging in a hammock, to his own original conclusions on the nature of time and on the meaning of life, or the lack thereof.

4.0 out of 5 stars A day in the life of a libre penseur 3 Mar 2010
By Jacques Alary - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Time Flies Like Cow
I found the content of this book surprising and interesting. A more appropriate title might be "A day in the life of a libre penseur" since the author invites the reader to accompany him for a trip to various stores and business services where he is confronted with "the automated speech" to which we are daily subjected. He describes these situations with a good sense of humour showing how ridiculous human interactions can get. But there is more than that since the book is an essay in social critique under the disguise of a novel. Witness his reflections about education, religion (how some orhtodox believers cheat on their God), the meaning of time, the finite and infinite issues, the meaning of life, and other transcendental questions.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Entertaining 21 Oct 2012
By L Levey - Published on Amazon.com

I found this quite entertaining. The author describes a day of running errands in great detail. Many of the events are interesting and amusing. Along the way, the author uses situations he encounters to opine on a variety of topics, such as inefficiency in government, the teaching profession, and the theory of relativity and the space-time continuum. While I disagreed with many of his conclusions, his logic was reasonable and humorous.

Anyone with even a mild interest in science or math will probably enjoy this book.
3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting & thought provoking 31 Jan 2013

Interesting book. He shares his thoughts throughout this one particular day and I had to agree with much of his observations on government and company inefficiencies. I didn't agree with some of his conclusions on some scientific theories but even scientists don't always agree. Not a deep book, just interesting and witty.
