When I started reading Time and Destiny, I really didn't know much about Eileen Gray. Her name was vaguely familiar. I knew there was an Irish connection, and I knew she was a designer, and I had a picture of a round glass and stainless steel table in my mind. That was about it.
Patricia O'Reilly's book, Time and Destiny, changed that for sure.
This book is a wonderful story, full of the sounds and sights of the era, but more importantly, to my mind, every little detail about Eileen Gray's work rings true. It certainly looks like the author cared deeply about her subject and researched Eileen Gray's life thoroughly - not an easy task if you consider that Eileen Gray destroyed all personal papers before she died!
Patricia O'Reilly's website has an interesting page on Eileen Gray. Well worth a read.
