A small army has taken control of a little island, and its up to you to rage a 2 man war against an entire army, including tanks, helicoptors etc. Cool.
Graphically, the island is beautiful, right from the start. You have the beach section, the train, and even the small village reminding you of a holiday resort. They are beautifully drawn and are graphically incredible. The enemies look just as good, however, their isn't much variety or difference in appearence (apart from colours which indicate the difficulty of the enemy.)
It is the gameplay that sets this apart. You are given in this bundle, a G-Con 2, (its brother was originally released with Time Crisis (1) on the PS1.) You calibrate the gun yourself, (i.e. shoot at a target which you feel is accurate.) This makes the gun as accurate (or unaccurate if you prefer) as you want it to be. Its pretty lightweight, and thankfully has no recoil feature (which tends to be the downside to most guns for the PS2, i.e. vibrates.) Now, the special thing are the buttons at the side, and underneath. By holding this, you are able to duck in game behind surroundings, whilst enemies attempt to attack you, and also reload. This makes it feel more realistic, and has huge appeal for gamers.
The gameplay takes you through some nice set situations, like a motorbike raid (everyone attempts to attack you on motorbikes) to boss battles on the back of a jeep, to a huge train section which results in you bailing for it before it plummets to the ground. The game also has a two player mode which is split screen, and a special character named Alicia who has a sniper rifle section in the game. A welcome addition is the ability to carry and use new weapons such as a shotgun, something which was absent from the original two Time Crisis games.
What lets this game down? Its a bit short (an hour to complete the main story) but then it is always something you'll go back and complete again at a later date (trust me.) Secondly, it will make your arms ache! Holding a gun up for such a long period of time is uncomfortable. However, these are minor faults, and do not condemn the game. This is one of the best light gun games on the market to date, everyone should own it.
