I have had 3 of the old pairs over the last 20 years,they were rearly comfortable and padded with nice soft leather,i have the new pair wich I bought last year,only wore them a couple of times feel so uncomfortable due to lack of padding now and the leather feels so hard,i would only by these again if I could find the ones with the black writing with the logo inside the tonge,these new versions are terrible!!!!

I read a couple of negative reviews about these boots. However, I was quiet impressed with these boots because the fitting is good, they look good; good grip on outside soles; the comfort level is good inside and around the ankle padding and on the tongue; laces a bit too long but that is not a problem they are a solid pair of boots ideal for autumn maybe even snowy winters. The only drawback is that they are slightly faded in some areas maybe due to the leather being treated with some form of coating and they get marked quickly if rubbed against anything but also the tongue is not gusseted apart from that they are good boots. Well worth the price I paid for them and made in Vietnam.

Very disappointed with the quality of the item given the price paid. Visible white glue marks between the sole and the uppers as well as noticeable gaps where the sole hasn't been glued properly. A lighter line also appears across the toecap where the leather flexes as weight is transferred to the toes. I only tried them on in the house to check the size (which is perfectly true to size) yet after just a few steps across the living room the lighter coloured crease I mentioned had already appeared making them look as though they'd seen a long day on the hills. I can only assume the mark I refer to is caused by stretching/creasing the wax coating on the leather, however as I bought these for everyday wear they're of no use if straight out the box they already look like an old worn pair of boots.

Timberland used to be manufactured in Thailand, which has a reputation for producing goods of high quality, however as the Chinese are undercutting the rest of the world in order to win manufacturing contracts Timberland in their infinite wisdom have obviously opted to dismiss the old adage "you get what you pay for". Unfortunately the quality of the brand has deteriorated, and yet we, the consumer, are still paying the over inflated prices for a name which was once known for quality.

End result, the pair I received today are already being returned and I'll avoid Timberland until they realise that inferior Chinese products aren't doing their brand any favours. In the meantime I'll just stick with my original 1999 classic 6" boots, from the days when Timberland gave a lifetime guarantee because they knew their boots would last a lifetime!

As the saying goes............. "tough as OLD boots!".

im on my third pair of there so far. Each pair lasting for a good five years before being relegated to work boots. However... it seems to me that this latest pair seems to be made from slightly thinner leather and are of a lighter build than previous.. And the laces are shorter too!! Cutbacks? Still a great boot though.

I have purchased a number of these boots in the past and have been extremely happy with the level of quality, comfort and durability until I purchased this last pair. In the past these boots were made in Vietnam and were excellent but they now come from china and the quality is very poor,they are nowhere near as comfortable they feel like a cheep set of boots and to top it off the second time I wore them one of the eyelets fell off. I know this is not a one off as I also use euro hiker pro boots for work and the last pair I had we're so uncomfortable as to be unwearable. Unfortunately as I bought the boots six months ago and didn't wear them until yesterday I am unable to return them

My requirements are not hard core fell walking, but wanted a good heard wearing boot for general country walking and enjoying the stony beach local to home. I did quite a bit of research on Timberland boots, visited the shop several times and eventually bought from Amazon. They feel quite hard out of the box, but were surprisingly comfortable first time out.
Have not used excessively so far, but happy, good boot, good price, good delivery as usual from Amazon.

Well this is my first pair of Timberland walking/hiking boots, after having owned 3 other pairs of Timberland boots in the past (one pair I am still wearing after nearly 9 years of heavy and rough use). They're a good quality boot, no frills in particular, but warm and very comfortable even from the first time you put them on. Nicely waterproof (although always remember to clean and treat them!), though you can't really go too wrong with decent leather boots (after owning Regatta boots, I will never again buy another pair as they do leak within short periods of time, though are nice summer boots).

So here's the pro's and con's of the boots;

Pro's
- Good quality, will last a long time;
- Good level of grip;
- Comfortable;
- Warm;
- Soft to step in and well supported;
- Stylish? (More so than other walking boots I've found anyway);
- Trust-able name.

Cons
- Low back of boot (this aids comfort, but some people may find these lack the support of the back of the ankle);
- Low boot, so the ankles aren't majorly supported (not a bother to me I prefer this);
- There are cut away's in the side of the boot which serve no purpose other than potentially letting in the outside world;
- On a lot of boots the tongue is attached to the main of the boot quite high up, these are not;
- Short laces.

Where I say about the cut aways, it is just below the bottom hook for the laces, there are holes either side that seem to have no purpose (if anyone knows that the purpose is please feel free to add to the comments!), which to me seem a weak point as water could just pour straight in, as could sand, etc.
