Tim Walker was born in England in 1970. His interest in photography developed during a year's work experience before college at Conde Nast London where he set up the Cecil Beaton archive. Tim went on to study photography at Exeter Art College. On graduation he worked as a freelance photographic assistant before becoming a full time assistant of Richard Avedon in New York City.
Tim's career as a photographer was launched when he placed 3rd in The Independent Young Photographer of the Year Awards. Initially he concentrated on documentary and portrait work for United Kingdom newspapers, which opened the door to further editorial work for British Vogue, W and Harper's Bazaar. He currently shoots for American, Italian, British and Japanese Vogue.
His unique, quirky yet elegant style can be recognized in his advertising work as well. Clients to date include: Neiman Marcus: The art of Fashion, Barney's, Banana Republic, The Gap, Kate Spade, Comme de Garcons, Yohji Yamamoto, Church's etc.
Tim currently resides in London but spends a lot of time travelling for work. Extraordinary environments and people are things that he finds the most inspiring.
