Tim is, without doubt, a stone-cold classic, deservedly up there with any rock n roll album ever made. And here's the rub that makes this band legendary- Let It Be and Pleased to Meet Me are equally as good! So now you know why people turn into dribbling, incoherent, hero-worshipping fools when you mention The Replacements/ Paul Westerberg. But I digress.
As I was saying, Tim is a great album. From the raucous opener "Hold My Life" to the staggeringly emotional "Here's Comes A Regular," Westerberg and the Mats never let the standard slip below jaw-dropping. It seems silly to point out highlights (there are no lowlights), but Swingin' Party, Bastards of Young and Left of the Dial are among the best songs in the rock n roll canon.
Tim is a mid eighties album, but unlike other albums of the period has not lost an ounce of relevance or power. Wonderful.
