The Torero Band were a "sound-alike" group of studio musicians who could reproduce the Herb Alpert "Tijuana" sound at the drop of a hat. As such they were used by MFP (Music for Pleasure) to create albums that had that Tijuans sound but could be bought for MFP's usual price of 99p.

Dont underestimate them. Everything they produced was well played, well arranged, lively, tuneful, well engineered and recorded. This album in particular was a cheap alternative to Alpert's Christmas album. I have both Alpert's album and this so-called cheap cover - I prefer this one.

I currently have a digitised version of my old vinyl LP in my library complete with end-of-side distortion, various clicks and pops, horrendous surface noise and scratches - it still gets played to death at Xmas. The moment somebody brings out a remastered digital version I will be the first to buy.

And, if all that history is of no interest to you then quite simply this is a lively tuneful happy Christmas album that everyone will love.

I endorse P.R.Rustage's comments wholeheartedly. This album is a slice of my 70s youth (not least because my 70s youth was somewhat vinyl 'themed', from the sofa on down) and I will buy the CD the nanosecond it becomes available. As will every member of my family. So that's about a dozen sales already. Come on, Amazon, sort it out...

PS: It's now available on iTunes download. Hurrah!

Definitely THE Christmas album in my house. After searching the web every December for years I found a web site where some kind soul has posted MP3s of his scratchy vinyl copy. So now I have a CD of sorts. But come on, EMI, re-relase Tijuana Christmas, so we're not all forced into lives of piracy!

Mum bought this album for us as kids at Christmas and it really got us going and out of her hair, then we thought it was cheesy, then so bad it was good and now I would just love it own it again on CD and enjoy all those great childhood memories and pass it on to the next generation but where is it, I can't find it anywhere? You can dance to it, singalong, or just cook Christmas dinner to a great musical background - it does something for everyone.
