Review

Epic, grand adventure rolled into a sweeping love story . . . (Sophie Jordan, author of Firelight)

'Not since the Twilight books has a series gripped me so intensely. Colleen Houck is a natural storyteller, who binds you into her web of adventure, keeping your interest locked all the way through until the end. This book is just as well paced and original as the first two in the series. I don't think you can read this series without falling under this author's spell.' (Serendipity Reviews)

'Entrenched in the rich culture, history, mythology, and imagery of India. The exotic setting only enhances the deliciously romantic scenes. The book is as romantic as it is adventurous. . . it could easily be the next big thing.' (evesfangarden.com on TIGER'S CURSE)

An epic love triangle that kept me eagerly turning the pages! (Alexandra Monir, author of Timeless)

Before I begin my review I have to warn you that there may be spoilers from the first two books in the series. If you haven't read the first two, then stop right here and go read them. NOW!

You wouldn't believe how I have waited for this book. Tiger's Quest ended with me screaming at the book - NOOOOOOO! So as you can guess I was desperate to find out what would happen next.

I was disgusted by the way Ren treated Kelsey at the end of Book 2 and I think I may be holding a grudge against him now. Other readers have managed to forgive him, but I am one of those people who doesn't forget things easily and I won't let him off his cruel behaviour. My views of him didn't improve with this book either as his bad behaviour reached new extremes. He spent most of the book treating Kelsey like a yoyo - flickering her emotions in and out as it suited him. I just wanted to shake him and scream at him - 'What are you playing at?'

I am definitely on Team Kishan now as he has been so sweet to Kelsey all the way through. OK, he isn't as seductive and mysterious as he was in the second book but at least he doesn't boss Kelsey around and tell her what she can and can't do. He has obviously realised Kelsey is a independent woman!

So it seems as I threw away my rose tinted glasses, Kelsey seemed to do the same and although she loves Ren, she knows what a jerk he can be. However the ending of the book ended on a huge cliff hanger again, leaving me dangling between two hot tigers!

I thought I would whip through this book really quickly, but I always seem to forget how detailed the author's writing is. Colleen Houck's books are rich with descriptions that need to be savoured, hitting all your senses in one go. This series is a like a fine wine, that cannot be rushed.

Please note that although this review won't contain spoilers for Tiger's Voyage it may give away events in the previous books so if you haven't read Tiger's Curse and Tiger's Quest yet you may want to stop reading here. This is one of my favourite YA paranormal series though so if you haven't started it yet I would highly recommend it!

I absolutely loved the first two books in this series so I can't tell you how excited I was to get my hands on this installment. I love Colleen Houck's descriptive writing style (although I have to warn you that you will end up hungry reading about all the delicious foods she mentions!) and am always sucked straight into the story as soon as I pick up one of her books. They are the kind of books that you don't want to put down despite their long length (this one is 543 pages long but that didn't stop me devouring it in a couple of days).

I've really enjoyed finding out more about Indian mythology throughout the series and I loved the Chinese feel to this installment. The journey the characters go on in search of the 5 dragons was great, the storyline is action packed and you never know quite what will happen next. Each of the dragons was very different but fascinating in their own way and I enjoyed the various tasks that Kelsey, Ren & Kishan are given along the way.

I have to admit that I'm starting to get a little fed up with the love triangle in this series now though and I have to confess that Tiger's Voyage was my least favourite book in the series. I have always been a firm team Ren member but I am getting a bit fed up with the way he keeps changing his mind. He really does mess Kelsey around in this one and although you do find out the reasoning behind his behaviour it didn't really excuse it in my eyes.

This is the third book in the Tiger's Curse Series. I LOVED it!

I downloaded this as an audio book, as I wanted to read it, but just didn't have time. Annika Boras again narrates the tale. I love the way she gave each character their own voice and personality. She did another fantastic job.

Kelsey Hayes is a fantastic character. I liked her a lot. She has grown in character and personality. It has been a pleasure to watch her grow from a teen full of angst into a woman who could face deadly challenges and become stronger (not only physically, but emotionally). However, that being said, I still wanted to either slap her or shake her on occasion. She has an annoying habit of not seeing the bigger picture. Her emotional turmoil with regards to her feelings for Ren, and now Kishan, blinds her to certain things and the reasons why they happen.

This story continues from the end of Tiger's Quest. I was literally an emotional wreck after reading that book, but I was dying to know what would happen next, so I couldn't wait to get into this one. I was quickly drawn back into the story. Ren and Kishan are now able to remain as men for twelve hours. Unfortunately, the torture that Ren suffered through has left him with no memory of Kelsey. This change in the relationship allows Kishan and Kelsey to become closer. I like Kishan. He is just as swoon-worthy as Ren. He is handsome, kind, courageous and brave. As I said in my review of Tiger's Quest, I am not a huge fan of love triangles, as they can be slightly one sided. This author has created two great men that any girl would love, and Kelsey is no exception to their charms. However, just to stir the honey pot, the author then introduces us to Wes, a smooth talking diving instructor from Texas.
