Having skipped Tiger Woods 2007 after discovering that there was virtually no difference between the 2004 and 2006 versions, I was rather predictably disappointed with this version when it came out. There is virtually no difference between this and 2006, which means in essence EA Games have done very little with Tiger Woods since 2004.
On the plus side, some of the graphical glitches are fixed and the courses look a little prettier - although the golfers themselves still look cartoony (and if you add tattoos they still appear too bright compared to the rest of your golfer in poor weather).
On the minus side, the rest of the old problems are still there - stuttering and lengthy install times, illogical interface, mouse pointer visible right over the ball when the computer-controlled golfers are taking their shots, menu controls you can't do anything with until it's your turn, and golfers that walk across each other's lines (and indeed the hole itself) after making their putt.
Inexplicably this year, they managed to make the interface even more obscure by the over-use of hexagons, the shot-swing now suffers from a irritating and potentially aim-destroying stutter (and this is on a top-end PC), and they've added a screen-centre yardage counter that is huge compared with the ball itself and detracts hugely from the game.
On the laziness front, the PGA Tour from Hack up to Pro has barely changed - you still play the same matches against the same people as two years ago (although Dale Deputy now sports an afro for some reason). Most of the clothing items, tattoos, sunglasses, etc are also still the same.
The much-advertised (some might say 'only selling point') Confidence system boils down to essentially making the shots you've made before easier and the shots you failed to make before even harder. It seems to have had negligible impact on my round average and smacks of desperation to add some new feature to the game.
This is a truly disappointing release. EA Games would have done much better to go back to the drawing board and ask themselves where the fundamental flaws with Tiger Woods PGA Tour are rather than constantly trying to do minute feature additions each year and trying to market it as a whole new game. It isn't - it's the same as 4 years ago except in many places actually worse.
