Margery Allingham wrote her first Albert Campion novel is 1928 when she was 23. She acquired a reputation as a serious writer, her books being recognized for their satire and her analysis of the problems and pleasures of post-war youth. She lived inEssex with her husband Philip Youngman Carter. She died in 1966.
