Product Description

Book Six in the Brothers and Lovers series by best-selling author Catrin Collier.

Judy Hamilton was born in the Cardiff docklands. Homeless after the death of her grandmother, she finds friendship, work and lodgings with Edyth Slater, above her bakery in Cardiff's colourful Tiger Bay. While attempting to make her way in a vibrant and complex society, Judy dreams of one day becoming a successful singer and actress. Restless and anxious to make his fortune, David Ellis leaves his brothers and sisters behind him on their isolated Breconshire farm. He is ready to embark on a new, more exciting life and is willing to do whatever it takes to find success. The enterprising natives of Tiger Bay manage to make a living from those rich enough to remain unscathed by the depression of the 1930s. Flouting the law, they open illegal casinos and nightclubs to cater for those who can still afford a good time. None are more ruthless than Aled James. With Aled's help, Judy finally breaks into the glittering paste and cardboard world of the city's nightclubs and theatres, but Aled demands a high price for his assistance. David and Judy soon discover that even with a pocketful of money, the life they'd dreamed about may come at too high a price...

More About the Author

At present (January 2014) working on Winds of Eden the sequel to Long Road to Baghdad. Look out for my raunchy Caro French Farcreek novels, Lady Luck, Lady Lay, Lady Chance named after the Cullen boys yachts. - Coming very soon.
My most bemused moment. When someone commented, "It will be wonderful for Pontypridd when you die." (Many of my novels are set in the town)
My best "putting in place moment". When someone joined a queue at a signing session in Waterstones and waited ten minutes to say, "I don't want a book, love, but as you're here for two hours, look after my shopping for me." - I did.
My proudest moment, when I discovered my Catrin Collier novel, One Last Summer, based on my Prussian born mother's wartime diaries was named recommended reading for adults by the Holocaust Day Memorial Trust.

I absolutely loved these books. Became so involved with the families that I couldn't wait for the next book. Now I have read the whole saga and feel quite sad to say goodbye to all the characters. Loved some, got angry with some, felt sorry for some - the whole cast of characters held me absolutely. Well done Catrin Collier will try another one of your series.

catrin collier captures the reader from the start of the series with her atmospheric storytelling - whilst reading you can picture the characters from her description and the places she describes - I read the books one after the other and thoroughly enjoyed them, hope you do too
