Format: Audio CD
This was Kim's first solo record and it's still one of the the best things he's done since leaving the original Fabulous Thunderbirds. It's a wonderful CD featuring great songs, great back up musicians (including Duke Robillard, Rusty Zinn and Junior Watson on guitars), and both sensational harp playing and great vocals from the man himself.

We get off to a great start with Rufus Thomas's 'Tigerman', then there's Johnny Guitar Watson's 'Don't touch me baby' and then...well there isn't a bad track on the record but my other highlights are 'If I should loose you' and Willie Mabon's 'When the lights go out'. Probably the biggest risk was Sonny Boy Williamson's dead slow blues 'Trust my baby' but Kim completely nails this very difficult song.

A marvellously consistent CD from probably the best blues harmonica player around who, on this showing, demonstrates that his singing is right up there with his harp playing. A tour de force of modern West Coast blues that leaves the competition far behind.

A great, great blues album 21 Feb 2000
By Damian Fanelli - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I've been in blues bands since 1985, so trust me when I say this is an awesome -- and unusually cheap -- CD. Kim Wilson's blues harp through his Green Bullet microphone sounds better than ever (literally his best playing since his pre-fame Fabulous Thunderbirds days). The song choices (Johnny "Guitar" Watson's "She Moves Me," for instance) are pleasingly atypical and sprinkled with subtle time-signature twists. But the true high point is the tasteful and unique guitar playing of Duke Robillard, who is simply outstanding. Blues guitarists can learn tons from Robillard's solos -- even on this fairly obscure CD. Also nice is the presence of former Fab Thunderbirds Preston Hubbard and Fran Christina on a few songs. Junior Watson's guitar playing is decent, too. Highly recommended.

By John Antonuccio - Published on Amazon.com

The song "Trust My Baby " is probably THE greatest harp solo ever- at least that I have ever heard. The entire album is simply superb and the band is hot with Kim leading the charge. One of the finest blues albums you will ever hear.
