Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Haze(UV) filters are wise initial investments. They help protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. If desired they can be left on the lens at all times for protection. Haze filters provide additional benefits of correction for Ultraviolet(UV) light which can register on film and videotape as a bluish cast and can obscure distant details. Ultraviolet filters allow you to correct for the UV effect to varying degrees.

Product Description

Safeguard your lens and absorb UV light. Film and video are more sensitive to UV light than our eyes are. This often shows up as a bluish cast in images, especially shots from high altitudes and long distances, particularly over water. Ultra Violet filters are available in a variety of UV absorption levels. Reduces excessive blue by absorbing almost three quarters of UV light. Best general purpose UV control Eliminates UV problems from most situations where increased haze tends to wash out color and image clarity Protects your camera or camcorder lens against dust, moisture, fingerprints, scratches and damage Can be kept on your camera at all times

This has been an excellent purchase, no discernible effect on images having attached it, and it offers valuable protection to the lens

Good quality item 22 April 2012

a valued item to protect both the expensive lens from scratches, and also picture UV quality protection.
Also comes in a solid protective box (once the filter is fitted to the lens you will never need to take it of? but it provides good protection in the post.)
Good build quality, as you would expect from Tiffen, very pleased.

Like a glove 8 Mar 2011
I had a Hoya 1B HMC Skylight before, which fulfilled its purpose when it broke over a pebble and saved my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (mounted on a Canon 40d) when I dropped the bag (Soligor classic line M, which I until I opened it would've thought to be enough cushion to spare the glass, but alas...).

A pro photographer may have gripes over the spectral properties of this filter in comparison with a more expensive one, but it seems good enough for me (haven't noticed any bad influences at all on picture quality).

The fit (thread etc) is great and the build quality seems good so I'm a happy sailor.
