The Ties that bind lives up to the standard of all the other books in the Jedi Apprentice series by Jude Watson. It focusses on Tahl and Qui-Gon as they revisit New Apsolon, a plant which they helped negotiate peace on six years ago. The basis of the story is that Ewanne, the Supreme Leader has been Murdered and his twin daughters have asked the Jedi for help, as they fear their lives are in danger. The storyline, unlike the other books in the series, concentrate on young Obi-Wan Kenobi (now 16 years old), and will only appeal to those who have read other books in this series. There are some interresting developments in Tahl and Qui-Gons relationship near the end of the book, and as always, Watson leaves the reader eager to read the next book in the collection with one of her well written clifhangers.....

I have to say I was surprised by how good these books actually are, even though they are aimed at the younger generation I (bieng older than that!) thoroughly enjoy them. Anyway this one is set a couple of years after the previous books and sees the pair, along with tahl, speeding off to sort out a worldly despute. It will keep you guessing till the end and then leave you crying out for the next one in the series. Oh yeah and I think there's a bit of the old romance in there for Qui-Gon as well. Definately a good little read.

I liked this book because like all the others you couldn't put it down but it also focused on the emotions of jedi. It also focused on my favorite charecters Thal and Qui-Gon but i didn't like the cliff hanger because i really want to know what happens. I can't wait for the next book!
