Product Description

Product Description

Chug Chug Chug...A fishing boat slips from the harbour, chugging out to sea on the high tide. The Tide is a boldly illustrated and wonderfully rhythmical picture book about the daily changes brought by the tide on the seashore. Children can follow the little fishing boat as it leaves the harbour, and join the cockleman and wildlife as they search for shellfish left behind on the shore by the retreating tide.

About the Author

The Tide is Nik Pollard's first book. Nik studied natural history illustration at the Royal College of Art and regularly exhibits his work in various London galleries. He also illustrates books on wildlife for the RSPB and other nature organizations. The idea for The Tide came while on holiday in Norfolk. Nik lives near the seaside in Kent (Faversham).

4.0 out of 5 stars My 2 yr old loves it, 23 Jul 2008

I was a little unsure when I opened this book and saw the computer-image pictures used, but my 2 yr old loves it. As we live near the sea, she relates well to the sounds and the cycle of the ocean. I don't think it would hold the interest of a child older than 4 yrs

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor - there are better children's books, 19 Feb 2009
Very badly worded book - hard to read at times too with the overlay on pictures. I dread having to read this when demanded....

I think this is a really nice book but my 4 year old really doesn't like it. He says it's a bit scarey! I don't know why but he says he thinks the pictures are too scarey.
