What a beautiful book this is! For all who are interested in jewellery it will be an absolutely must. For those who are interested in royal families you will find a large section on the royal tiaras. The history royal tiaras will help you to trace family links. The book is extremely well written, with a lot of inside and understanding for the beauty of tiaras and jewellery in general. It is so nice to browse through the pages and enjoy the beauty of it. I will give it a place of honour on my coffee table!

5.0 out of 5 stars Splendid creativity 28 May 2012

Very well-written and researched. For anyone interested in the history and development of jewellery: the author focuses his attention on particular items of jewellery and the immagination and masterly techniques of the great jewellers who made them. The pieces chosen are set against their own particular history,(which of course intersects the life-stories of those fortunate enough to have owned them) and the far greater field of social history. Perhaps there is a slightly heavier slant on British-owned tiaras - but that may be because the custom of wearing these gorgeous creations has endured there longer than in other places, and also because many continental pieces came to grief during one or other of our many wars. I found the part on Russian jewelled headpieces particularly intriguing. Wonderful photographs. A fascinating and beautifully written instructive read, and a much admired addition to my library of jewellery-related books.

This book is THE go to book on tiaras, and a must have if you're at all interested in formal jewellery. Munn's passion for this subject makes this book a delight as well as informative, and the photographs are sumptuous. The Tiara lover's bible.

5.0 out of 5 stars a head taller than most 30 Nov 2011

Beautiful, big and heavy - the book reflects its subject. The emphasis lies on British royal and aristocratic tiaras from the 19th and early 20th century. This gives some social history of the uppermost classes together with a lovely array of photos. Munn is most knowledgeable - he has written a shorter book on the subject as well. Some more - much more - information on tiaras in other countries would have been welcome but the book is crammed with fascinating information on almost every one of its 432 big pages.
