The third album from a remarkable Highland piper, accompanied by producer Tony McManus on guitar plus Neil Fergusson (bouzouki), Ewan Vernall (bass guitar) and John Scullion (snare drum). There is a generous mix of Gordon's own highly rated and much sought after compositions, including the hugely popular "Andy Renwick's Ferret" which has been included on over 50 piping, dance band and folk albums. There are also some favourite traditional tunes and several new works by notable composers such as Marc Duff, Iain MacDonald, Gordon Campbell and Angus Young.

Format:Audio CD
This is a slightly offbeat album, with relatively little of the usual 'meat-n-taters' piping; instead there are a number of sets of Galician music, and of course Duncan's interpretation of AC/DC's Thunderstruck. To me, this is an inspiration - but I don't think Tony McManus' acoustic guitar backing works that well. They should've either gone the whole hog, with electric guitar and maybe drums, or done it completely solo.
McManus backs on several other tracks and, although he's a good musician, I don't feel the pipes need it. He doesn't really add much.
Gordon Duncan was a hugely talented and innovative piper. I'm not sure this is quite the best showcase for his abilities.

A great album from the late master of the Highland Bagpipes, Gordon Duncan. Fantastic playing and some superb tunes, many of them his own compositions. Inspirational.
