This is my second Momus CD purchase (both within a month), although he has been on my radar since the Creation "Doing It For The Kids" compilation over 20 years ago. This is an extraordinary album. It is true to say that some tracks are more immediate than others, and it certainly is largely a slow paced album, but the inventive lyrics, and the remarkable sound collages by John Henrikson make this a very different listening experience from the run of the mill music that seems to abound right now. Give it a listen on his website, and let the songs grow on you. Then go and buy the CD. I did, and I don't regret it.

ah, this is good. Momus in the raw. emotionally cynical and bare. there are some great songs on this album, unfortunately, most of them were included on the 4-track EP. Momus must've felt there was an album in there and well, he was wrong. the songs The precocious miss young calloway, the criminal gibbous moon, and, at a stretch, the title song are all worthy of the best of his work but as an album it flounders.Baloney Polonius is a classic (check out the video on youtube) but half-sketched songs like futura bold and the teacher are almost a parody of earlier better songs. My advice is to download those songs you like and leave the rest to the hardcore momus fan. i downloaded the whole cd and look at me now.
