5.0 out of 5 stars It does its job! 17 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase
I needed this, not so cheap, adapter for my new Retina Display MacBook - In many hotel rooms there is no wifi, but there is ethernet plug, and that is where one needs this cable, until ethernet plugs are replaced with Ethernet-to-Thunderbolt ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Required! 6 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase
I wish apple included this with the Macbook because it is required. Whilst the built in wifi is great (it performs better than most other laptops in this area) however when copying large files (bluray renders from Final Cut Pro for instance) you need that extra bandwidth.
The down side is that I need to unplug one of my 27inch monitors to use it, if only there was a cheap thunderbolt hub.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it is supposed to. 19 Aug 2013

Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter does what it is supposed to do: uses your thunderbolt port as a gigabit ethernet one. Performance as expected.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the box 1 May 2013

A bit of a pain that you need an adaptor but that's the price you pay for ultra thin macbooks. Works well though and speeds seem good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly 30 Oct 2012

Works perfectly.

A genuine apple product but much cheaper.

I found I got the same speed as wireless but needed to free the overused wireless network.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works, but pricey. 6 Mar 2013

The adapter works fine, my MacBook Air picks it up in no time, and yes it connects to the internet. The finish is good and it feels like a very solid piece of kit, but like many Apple adapters it does feel pricey.

The only major downside is that it uses the only Thunderbolt port on my MacBook Air. Considering one of the advantages of Thunderbolt they advertised when launching it was the ability to daisy chain up to 6 devices (native Thunderbold hard drives for example support this) these adapters do not have a port for daisy chaining, which means I can have ethernet or a second monitor, but not both.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but way over priced.
Well over priced but does the job it is meant to do without any problems at all. If you can get the same cheaper but it. If not then this is all good apart from price.
