These comic-strip adventures are from a mid-sixties comic, called TV Century 21. And they were the reason I used to rush home from School that little bit faster on Wednesday's (delivery day) then any other week-day.
Most of the strips were based on Gerry Anderson's puppet shows which had just aired or were about to be like Thunderbirds.
I was nine years old, and the simplified artwork of the Beano and Dandy didn't interest me any more, but through these magnificiently drawn and coloured pieces of Artwork* I could escape my boring humdrum schoolboy existence and share in the excitment with the Tracy brothers.
(*On glossy paper and printed using the expensive "Photogravure" process no-less)

For all those new to the artwork of TV21, you are in for a pleasant surprise, the quality is superb, and at least five years ahead of anything Marvel and DC were doing at the time.
Not all of the comic-strips are by Frank Bellamy, two are by fellow TV21 artist Eric Eden, and one is by Eagle "Legend" (Dan Dare) Frank Hampson.
It was also rather nostalgic sight to see the toy advert's, priced in old shillings and pence.
Go on, relive the excitement of your younger years by getting this excellently reproduced hardback volume.
Or if you just like well drawn artwork, Frank Bellamy was the man.
I'd like to say Thanks to Graham Bleathman and Sam Denham for making this ageing schoolboy very happy.

Providing an invaluable addition to the growing number of books re-printing old TV21 comic strips from the 1960's, this well-produced book will be great fun for all those who avidly read it in the 1960's. A casual glance at the cover might fool you into thinking that this book only contains new strips - but the author (or compiler) has a long and trusted history in all things Gerry Anderson-based, and within these pages he has succeeded in preserving many wonderful Frank Bellamy-drawn 'Thunderbirds' strips that might have otherwise been lost. The sheer drama and dynamism of Frank's artistry is still as fresh today, and are printed here in a quality that would have been unimaginable during the '60s. In short, any book that preserves Frank's fabulous art is worth the cover price. The authors have also succeeded in tying the book together using TV21-style dateline pages that preface most of the strips, which are compiled from several weeks episodes to form a complete story. There is also a useful introduction and summary, including nuggets of information - such as Frank Bellamy's access to plaster casts of the puppets' heads to assist with his portrayals. However, though historically relevant, I was never a great fan of the Lady Penelope comic strips that preceded the first appearance of 'Thunderbirds' in TV21, and I was a little disappointed that the first third of the book is pretty much all Penelope. However, I appreciate that 'Penelope' played an important part in the development of TV21, and it therefore justifies it's inclusion. The reproductions of vintage advertisements that regularly appeared in TV21 (e.g. Kelloggs 'Sugar Smacks'; Smith's Crisps; Century 21 Toys & Records; though, unfortunately, not Dinky Toys) help bring back that '60s vibe, and as such the book is an invaluable companion to Chris Bentley's excellent series of TV21 books, also available at Amazon. Recommended.

For me these stories and art as fresh today as they were back in 1966 and on. Very good layout and design. There was a lot of love put into designing & writing this book.
