After the disappointment for me of Heathen Warrior Stormwarrior have come back on form with an album to rival Heading Northe.
This just oozes great tracks and will probably end up as one of my top albums of 2014 despite it being released in January.
If you haven't heard them before, then they are like Helloween Gamma Ray, but have their own sound that you would know is Stormwarrior if you started listening half way through a track, if you know what I mean.

Stormwarrior are a band who I'm going to instantly like, with me being into the Power and the Speed Metal thing, there's always a charm to a band that overuses the word “Steel” and with this Stormwarrior album “Thunder and Steele” There's always more room for swords, dragons and power.

Kai Hansen once said that this band “Reminded him of his youth” so it's no real surprise that he had recorded Stormwarrior at his Hamburg studio for Northern Rage (2004) and that Stormwarrior covered ”(Heavy Metal) Is The Law” from the Helloween classic “Walls Of Jericho”.

Now that Stormwarrior are out of the phase musically where they sound like Helloween and more like Stormwarrior as they proved on “Heathen Warrior” (2011) and “Heading Northe” (2008) showing some progress with the traditional Stormwarrior sound.

Now here we are on their fifth album “Thunder And Steele” and it's a perfect introduction to the band, the tracks are fast, heavy and mesmerising. They're everything I would expect from a Storm Warrior album. Fist pumping Heavy Metal in the vein of Gamma Ray, Helloween and Iced Earth

The influences of all the NWOBHM and the European metal scene is evident on this album, with twin harmonies, speed and double bass pedals all over the album with never taking a break to slow down except for a break in the middle with Steel Crusader which is one of the stronger tracks of the album because of the simple melodic parts that compliment the rest of the band, rather than it being a competition to see who can shred the fastest.

Stormwarrior has put an emphasis on Melody and speed with the gloriously melodic but heavy sounds of Metal Avenger, Fyres In The Nighte (Which is also the heaviest track on the album) and Servants Of Metal

So all in all it's a great introduction to the band,

Great album, easily their best since Northern Rage
