Book Description

1 Jan 2011
A lot can change in three months: wars can be decided, nations can be forged...or entire species can be brought to the brink of annihilation. The Morningstar Virus, an incredibly virulent disease, has swept the face of the planet, infecting billions. Its hosts rampage, attacking anything that remains uninfected. Even death can't stop the virus. Scattered across the world, embattled groups have persevered. For some, surviving is the pinnacle of achievement. Others hoard goods and weapons. And still others leverage power over the remnants of humanity in the form of a mysterious cure for Morningstar. Francis Sherman and Anna Demilio want only a vaccine--but to find it, they must cross a countryside in ruins, dodging not only the infected, but also the lawless living. The bulk of the storm has passed over the world, leaving echoing thunder and softly drifting ashes. But for the survivors, the peril remains, and the search for a cure is just beginning...

5.0 out of 5 stars Continuation of one of the best 29 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback
This is the second of a trilogy with the final installment yet to be released.
The differentiation here is that infected living become fast moving 'sprinters' while anything other than a brain kill will reduce them to equally murderous but much slower 'shamblers'.

Again, well written to keep the pages turning, reflects another vision of a collapsed society. Militaristic viewpoint and at times the soldiers feel a little too effective/fortunate but the story is non the worse for it.

Very much looking forward to final part.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended 25 July 2011

Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is the second book and easily as good if not better than the first. the characters in this are gone into in more depth and that pulls you more into the story. There's plenty of action in this and its more realistic than some zombie novels I've read, the characters in this have to struggle not just against the zombies but against a world in ruin, where other humans are a threat and food and other resources are scarce. It seems to me that there should be a third book in the series as there are some loose ends, however I didn't find the end at all disappointing for that and you are left with a good view of how the things that aren't tied up are going to turn out. If you haven't read the first morningstar strain book you should read that first.
UPDATE - Third book showing on Amazon as coming soon WOOHOO!

Z is the king of zombie reads as far as im consurned none of that smart or magic zombie rubbish. it has the clasic slow zombies that get you scared and the sprinters that just make you wish there was more of you with guns. he has come up with a great set of books with the saga and i cant wait for the 3rd book!!

if you like zombie reads and are sick of the rubbish you keep finding pick up the morningstar strain!!!!
