This helicopter has potential i must say, but having now just packed it up for return two days after receiving has made me write this negative review.
The first day i played with it it was fun, it's more 'aggressive' than the syma (107 i think) range as it moves forwards more quickly and whizzes around the room but can be challenging to control on the flip side.
THe remote is quite disapointing, looks funky but NOT practical. The Syma range comes with more precise controls and wider range of movement for the two joysticks, this is just a bit too much of a kid-friendly remote.
Anyway its the second day now and after some minor crashes and bumps(nothing significant) the lower propellor has stopped working and im not going to attempt to open up the casing to try and fix it.

I purchased this for my son for Christmas but didnt read the reviews before it arrived. My initial impressions were very good. Straight out of the box the copter and the remote quality was better than I expected for the price. After the 6 AA batteries were installed it took aroud 20/30mins for the copter to be charged by plugging it into the remote.
The first few nervous attempts by my son and I ended up bumping the copter into the ground and the occasional bump into a wall. I wouldnt go as far as to call them crashes but to be honest as neither of us had used one before it was expected. The helicopter flying time is listed as 6mins per charge but it seems to last longer (although its early days.)
All was going well untill we started flying after only the 4th charge. We both had a good grasp on keeping it under control by now and were managing to fly it up and down the lounge and it is actually a lot of fun. All of a sudden for no obvious reason the copter span out of control and crashed. Upon inspection the bottom set of rotors had stopped truning and refused to turn anymore. It seems that the small drive gear for the rotors had slipped and was no longer in contact with the large gear which seems to be the exact same fault as mentioned in previous reviews. I have managed, using a paperclip to slide the small gear back into place and the helicopter works fine again but it has happened several times since and i susspect it will continue to happen unless I open the copter up and try to repair it.
This is a real shame and I would not blame anyone for wanting to return this as it is obviously not an isolated problem. The copter should be able to withstand a few bumps and shunts but it seems that this particular part lets this Gyro copter down. For the price I paid (Black Friday deal) I think I will keep the copter for now and see how things go but keep in mind if you purchase this you may need to make sure you keep a paper clip to hand!

This toy had great potential, the helicopter was very easy to fly but after about 10 take offs and landings the bottom rotor blade stopped working.
It appeared that the small cog for the motor that drove the drive shaft for the 2nd blade became miss alligned.
Amazon replaced the product but the same thing happened on the replacement.
This is a real shame as the helicopter flew brilliantly and definitely released my inner child.

Gyro Night Hawk - poor quality
Avoid this product. It has a basic and serious design fault. Minor contact of the rotors with anything solid will cause the cog that drives the lower rotor to become dislodged. Read more
