5.0 out of 5 stars excellent, fun, educational, wooden toy/model 24 Jan 2012
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Me and my 7-year-old put this together over a couple of evenings. It's very solidly put together with dowels and glue. It would be a bit too hard for him to do on his own - you have to read the instructions a little carefully, and getting some of the dowels in requires a bit of muscle (or the handle of a hammer, of course).

He really enjoyed it, and learnt plenty about construction, strength, elasticity of different kinds of wood, ratchets, levers, knots etc.

Without any tuning it fires the plasticine balls about 5 meters, and I've been hit in the chest at 4 metres range...

A really good fun to make and it is great for people like me who used to make kits when I was younger. It is a good project for a day and the instructions are very easy to understand. The only down side is that you need to sand down the wooden dowles once you have completed it to make it look nicer. It is also easy to paint and you can fire the catapult at a very high speed depending on how sight you do the strings. Highly recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay but the arm broke
Precut bits of wood were okay, instructions not child friendly.
Throwing arm is too long to be arrested in such an abrupt manner - hence it broke!
