We have only just bought this book but my two boys love it. As a child I loved the rhyme ' There was an old lady who swallowed a fly' and this is obviously a modern day version' With all its lovely bright colours and fantastic jungle animals,it is a must for all young children's bookshelves.Look out for the lion!

Having enjoyed reading 'Elliot and the Big Wave' with my three year old boy I was pleased to discover the same quirky illustrations in 'Through the Heart of The Jungle'. Elena Gomez's unique style seems to have come alive with the colourful and vibrant jungle compositions. The text of Jonathan Emmett flows rhythmically and is a delight to read aloud. Author and Illustrator seem to compliment each other beautifully as the fluid text unwravels amongst the dynamic page layouts. Aside from looking great, my son shrieked with delight at the sight of the toad with the big beady eye and this has fast become a bedtime favorite.

Elena Gomez's drawings are absolutely beautiful. My children love this book and ask to read it every night before going to bed. The colors are bright, warm, and welcoming. This is a book for all ages!

A new slant on an old tale. Delightfully written and lovely bold and colourful illustrations. I like the way the narrative, in places, follows the forms of the animals. Read more
