Biography

Life has its share of ups and downs and no one knows that better than Saves The Day frontman Chris Conley. For the past seventeen years Conley has been bearing his soul and reinventing his musical identity with each successive step, a process that is clearly culminating with Saves The Days seventh full-length Daybreak. The third part of a trilogy that also includes 2006’s Sound The Alarm ... Read more in Amazon's Saves the Day Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Saves The Day rule 18 Mar 2002
Format:Audio CD
Since their debut album Can't Slow Down, Saves The Day have evolved into an amazing fusion of stark vocals, catchy riffs and lyrics that have proved an inspiration to every person who has been fortunate enough to come across this band. Chris Conley is an outstanding songwriter and he reaches his fans by singing about things they can all relate to. This is understandable, as, with an average age of about 20, Saves The Day are a very young band who have proved their talent having already released two full length albums, showing that they can only improve and keep learning.
Straight off from the first time playing this cd I couldn't keep it out of my hi-fi for weeks and this is after having been blessed with such sounds as the Ataris, Nofx, Get Up Kids, MxPx and others. Through Being Cool for me has been a revelation, it has totally inspired me, Chris Conley writes the best lyrics I've heard yet, and I thought Kris Roe was a great songwriter. The first track on the album is All-Star Me, which shows an energetic, bright side of the band and sets a high standard for the rext of the album which i didn't expect to be held. However You Vandal keeps up the tempo and shows off Chris' vocals and some powerful chords. The best track has to be Rocks Tonic Juice Magic with it's harsh lyrics and catchy tune that will keep you singing it all day. There are no let down tacks on this album and there is always one STD album in my stereo. A must have for any punk fan and definately worth the money. This is the first STD album I bought and probably the best but the others are not to be overlooked and I find myself telling everyone how great they are. Chris constantly says how if it wasn't for the other members in the band, they wouldn't be what they are now and I completely understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please please please mr hox 9 Jun 2004
Format:Audio CD
OK, so i first heard saves the day when they released Stay What You Are and i went to see 'em live, not really knowing any of the songs - they stunned me. Funeral was an anthem for that year of my life. So i got their first album Cant Slow Down and it was sooooo hardcore! Somewhere in between the truly hardcore Cant Slow Down and the poppy singalong of Stay What You Are lies this, one of their best. Apart from In Reverie which is my fave, this is the next best thing. I saw them live again when they were promoting In Reverie and i enjoyed it so much i bought a t-shirt! Check these guys out.... this is an awesome album and its a toss up for me between this and In Reverie.... This is slightly harder. My fave track has to be Holly, Hox Forget Me Not "Please please please mr hox wont you tell your daughter i'm all alone and i'm not handling this well" "My god i look pathetic tonight" Awesome!

This second album from Saves the Day is an amazing selection of heart felt songs from the young band. STD really know how to write songs that you can relate to. The lyrics are sheer poetry and the music is a perfect compliment. A refreshing view of the world in the eyes of a young lad on love, friendship and escaping from it all. A definate must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing album written by a lyrical genius! 4 July 2001

When i first bought this album, it took a bit of getting used to but after a few listens i began to appreciate how brilliant Saves the Day really are. Chris Connely writes lyrics that you can relate to and the music is a great blend of emo and fast punk rock but with acoustic tracks such as Three Miles Down. My favourite songs on the album are Shoulder to the Wheel and Through Being Cool but they are all good. All of Saves the Day's albums are different and i think this is definately their best record.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 and a half stars 12 Nov 2001

This album is hot!!!!! if you want faster pop-punk, then buy this, cos it is pop-punk at its best. however, if you, like me, love bands such as the ataris, jimmy eat world, the get up kids, alkaline trio etc. then you should try out their new one first, as i personally think its better. anyhow, this one rules.
