I'm a fitness instructor who has been finding a constant work schedule harder and harder to keep up with - until a friend introduced me to the Thrive Diet. I'm not vegan and I don't follow the whole diet, but Brendan's early chapters made it crystal clear to me why I was napping in the afternoons and feeling absolutely wrecked after my classes. I follow his recipes and theories about fuelling for athletic performance and literally one week into using his pre-exercise drinks, homemade electrolyte drinks for during exercise and recovery drinks for afterwards, I am a changed person. I'm awake for the whole day, alert, calmer, giving a lot more to my classes and am generally just more rational and relaxed after months of feeling about 90.
The book is worth the price just to read his well-thought out philosophies about diet, whether you're an athlete or not. But whatever your lifestyle, if you're finding yourself tired, drained, gaining or unable to lose weight, inexplicably cranky and for any reason suspect you might be heading into adrenal burn-out, you will find explanations, answers and best still, solutions, in the Thrive Diet - without necessarily turning vegan or radically changing your life.
A little warning - the first shopping trip to buy the base ingredients WILL dent your bank account as you need quality products, probably from a health food store, but most of these more obscure items will last you a long time as they're used in small quantities.
Hurrah for the thrive diet!
