Thrill Seekers struck me as essentially an above average "made for TV" film which is nevertheless entertaining if you don't take it too seriously. The plot is a variation on the old time travel theme in which tourists from the future journey back in time to experience historical disasters. The action is played out around Casper Van Dien who, having stumbled upon the brochure of a rather sinister looking "time tourist", sets off on a one man mission to avert all of the future disasters contained within its contents whilst being pursued by two agents from the future intent on protecting the status quo.
Naturally, it's very difficult for a film with such an absurd premise to sustain the suspension of disbelief and Thrill Seekers quickly descends into nonsense. A slight hesitation caused by the appearance of a tourist, for instance, is enough to drastically alter the path of the future, but Casper Van Dien's character buzzing around blowing up cars, crashing subway trains and shouting about the existence of future disasters from the rooftops seemingly falls short of this standard. By the time the film reaches its climax all logic has been eradicated from the plot and we're left with a quite preposterous series of events which it's impossible to take seriously.
Nevertheless, the film is capable of holding your attention if you're willing to take it for what it is and, whilst none of the performances are in any way impressive, the simplicity of the characters complements the plot. If you're of a particular mindset this could perhaps fall into the guilty pleasure category, but if you're expecting an intelligent and well crafted piece of cinema then I'd avoid Thrill Seekers at all costs.
